Siege of Dalaran, Part I

We were trapped in the towers of Dalaran now. The priests didnot have enough resources to withstand the siege for very long. I summoned the archers and gunners to the tower so that atleast we could atleast withstand the attack from the incoming army. Scouts had located a vast mixed breed army headed our way. It seemed that the Duke, enraged after Dido had freed the princess headed right toward our position with hundreds of soldiers, scores of cavalrymen and dozens of cannons.

I fielded a small army to keep the advancing marauders busy and lure them to another part of the province. They were 27 miles away from the city when word came in that they were performing a pincer movement to capture the city. I feared the worst, and went atop the tower to check our positions, there were already gnarls fighting the tower guards with throwing weapons such as slings, knives and axes.

Worse news came in, the small army that was mobile was tracked down by the enemy, a bunch of riders met up with them and cut them down to pieces. Those who managed to escape reported of giants leading their army and dwarves, elves and gnomish artillery supporting them. This was very bad news indeed. If Dardanelle fell, the whole northern campaign would collapse and there will be slim chances of the princess's escape.

We had to come up with a plan. I prepared to face the enemy from the Dardanelle keep itself. Gunpowder was brought and every single barrel cleaned. In the midst of action, my general and second in command Tokesh advised a daring plan, he would hold the castle as long as he could while I take a contingent of men and burn the enemy encampment, this would severely make them lose their moral.

The plan was daring but I was ready to gamble everything to make this campaign a success, and soon we heard the sound of cannons bombarding our front gate. I took my contingent of 300 troops and all them horsemen and left the castle from the rear exist and sealed it from the outside...!
