The Fertile Navratra Pot

Navratra or the nine night of the hindu calender is the autumn festival of India often associated with fertility. The most important rituals include initialization of girls to womanhood or celebration of maternity. Garba or the traditional dance in ethnic wear is held in the western and northern states of India.


The pot of the garba dance is indeed the womb, its maternal features are easily recognizable, a woman, like the pot hold for us the essential liquid which when impregnated by the males, triggers the creation of a new living being.
